Hey there, I’m Caro(line).
My love for flags began with childhood stories — the Swallows and Amazons in particular, where adventure lived in the margins and flags marked the beginning of every tale. Growing up by the sea on the south coast, I was always sketching pirate flags for imaginary ships, setting sail from the end of the garden.
Sewing has always been at the heart of what I do. I trained in Costume Interpretation at the London College of Fashion and have spent 26 years working in theatre costume. It’s taken me all over the world on touring productions — each one a huge adventure!
Now rooted in London, I’ve dropped anchor and opened my own little haven — Caro B Fin Studio. It began as a space to breathe life into creations that felt personal, thoughtful, and one of a kind — far from the churn of mass production. A place to craft pieces that inspired me.
The first pennant I made was a gift — inspired by vintage American sports pennants I'd seen in stadiums across North America while on tour. It was so well received that soon, requests came sailing in. And so, here I am.
Sustainability is stitched into everything I do. For some pennants I’ve salvaged old boat sails, worn and weathered, once bound for landfill, now transformed into pennants - even a few bags along the way - each carrying its own story in every crease and fray.
With this in mind I also source vintage flags to repurpose into cushions or blankets. Im careful not to cut into them, keeping them whole, cleaning and restoring them as much as I can whilst keeping their unique wear and tear history.
There’s a quiet magic in wrapping yourself in a flag’s faded fabric by the sea, wondering at the horizons it’s seen and the stories it could tell.
